Both of us usually go on spontaneous travels with fast-paced activities, hopping from one place to another. From small huts to tiny fan rooms, we make sure to get the best deal we could have. But when the urge to splurge and relax suddenly makes it in our minds, Bluewater resorts will always be our first choice. And this time, we were invited to have a relaxing long weekend inside their Panglao venue.
After staying in their Maribago and Sumilon resorts, our expectations were predictably high. Having experienced Filipino hospitality and genuine pampering during both of those stays, this one has a high benchmark to equal/surpass. And what do you know? Upon setting foot outside the Tagbilaran airport, a personal chauffer made sure that our expectations would be exceeded.
The first thing I noticed upon entering the place was how huge it was. Don’t get me wrong, Maribago and Sumilon were both humongous resorts but this one knocks it out of the park. They have 2 big pool areas which could accomodate a lot. One is located by the rooms and the other is located near the beach, creating an infinity pool-like appearance.
As big as the resort was, they also have a place for almost any activity you can think of. You can have a leisure stroll/walk by the gardens, have an adventurous ATV ride through the rough terrain or if you want to have a quicker way of getting anywhere inside the place, you can opt to rent a mountain bike.
You may think that using a mountain bike to roam around is a bit lazy but trust me, it’s that huge! But if you are the type of person that doesn’t want to break a sweat, you could just hop and ride their shuttle golf carts.
After having a walk inside the beautiful flower-surrounded garden, we went straight for food. We have been traveling since 3:00 AM and brunch was the only thing that kept us awake. Thankfully, the staff prepared us a feast.
Ranging from Filipino food to Korean cuisine, the culinary staff really knows how to cook food quite well. We stuffed our stomachs to its full capacities as their manager and Marvin, their marketing executive which was also our companion for the weekend, told amazing stories about how the place was built.
After brunch, we proceeded to engage in all activities offered. From Crochet to Badminton to hoola hoop, etc. etc., the place really is the perfect place for a family bonding. We biked, walked and strolled around up until dinner time came.
Yet before dinner, the good staff of Panglao Bluewater gave us a pampering massage courtesy of the Amuma spa. I usually try to stay awake during massages but the otherworldly hands of their masseuse were that good that it knocked me out quite splendidly. It was a really nice pre-meal offering.
The night was a bit cloudy and cold but the warmth of the food brought joy to our hearts. Yes, we love food that badly. It was a nice dinner by the pool as the manager told stories about faith, life and hopefulness. It was really uplifting hearing how they overcame some odds and they even asked our opinions on what activities they can add. Turns out, the activities by the beach were made up by their staff. Creativity really adds something extra to a place.
We called it a night and went to sleep inside the gorgeous and comfortable room they gifted us. Adjectives describe things and those were really the adjectives inside my mind while inside it. It may sound corny but it’s true.
By 6 in the morning, we were already in line for the breakfast buffet. We are not really morning persons but the thought of crunchy bacon strips outnumbering the rice in your meal made us stand up, rise and shine earlier than usual.
We feasted on assorted breakfast staples from the Philippines and US while gulping down liters of their intoxicating lemon grass tea. It was definitely a magical morning as nothing brightens up a person’s day more than a plateful of crispy Bacon at the top of your lap.
After the meal, we went inside to have a look at other rooms they offered.
They have a honeymoon suite that are, as indicated by the name, for couples.
They have a villa that can accommodate a whole family. Having 2 houses, I repeat, houses that one can stay in.
They have a room specifically for the small family of 4-6.
And of course, they have the premier deluxe rooms for the typical barkada outing.
By early afternoon, we decided to relax by the beach, while watching other people go sailing and kayaking. We had another spectacular dinner and called the night for another beautiful day.
By 8 in the morning, we were escorted back by the chauffer to the airport, ending our 3 day stay inside one of the loveliest resorts we’ve been to.
You could argue with us if we say that Bluewater resorts have the best amenities a luxury resort could ever have. You can also engage us in debate if we say that they really are the most beautiful resort one can stay on. But the thing in Bluewater resorts that nobody can contradict is that they boast the most respectful, hospitable and friendliest staff a luxury resort can ever have. That loving Pinoy trait is the priceless amenity that gives them edge over others. Bluewater resort is definitely Filipino.
